So you have a model standing there with no props, clothing, or background, how do you make the photo interesting? As part of my Bodies series I try and explore this challenge with every photoshoot, and to that end I've discovered breast posing. I've never seen or heard of anyone write about this topic or many photographs where it looks as if models are doing it, so I thought it would be fun to show you what I'm talking about. Really when I say breast posing I'm talking about using the model's arms to interact with her breasts in a non-sexual manner that creates an interesting photograph. To see what I'm talking about, let's dive in and look at bunch of breasts.

Shaping is simply taking the breasts and altering how they naturally fall on the body, in most practices this is simply done by pushing the breasts together, but in practice that can just be the start. My rules for shaping are:
- Keep the nipples visible and symmetrical
- Don't exaggerate too much
- Make things interesting
I also try and shape the breasts using the forearms and back of the hands as I find this is more artsy than just cupping the breasts with the hands, cupping poses generally go quickly get away from the artsy side of things. Let's look at some examples:
Creating frames within a picture is a common trick of photographers, shooting someone in a doorway, shooting through a window, and having a model create frames on her own body is also super fun. These poses are all about framing the breasts in interesting ways and are very accessible poses for any model, something that comes in handy when dealing with new models. They never know where to put their arms.
There aren't really and rules here, though I always strive to keep the nipples uncovered. Really that has to do with the philosophy of my Bodies series - nothing to hide in front of or behind, just the body itself for everyone to see.
That's all for now, thanks for reading!
